The Board of Chosen Freeholders and Board of Technical Education have made a major commitment to Emergency Medical Services training in Bergen County. The Middlesex County Fire Academy is a 26 acre state of the art training facility located in Sayreville, Middlesex County, New Jersey. The academy opened in 1992 and has trained several thousand firefighters and emergency response personnel from throughout New Jersey as well as individuals from across the country and even firefighters from Colombia, South America. The academy provides classroom instruction and dynamic hands on training in all aspects of fire, rescue and hazardous materials response.
