1974 Grumman - Retired

In 1974, Lake Hiawatha took delivery of one of the first fire vehicles built by Grumman Emergency Vehicles at a cost of $24,000.00. Designed to meet the District's needs by Fire Fighter Paul Koert, the new van was designated "Tactical Unit 644". Built on a Ford Motor Home Chassis with a Grumman Step Van body the truck could carry a compliment of firefighters, act as an Command Post at emergency's and had enough lights to illuminate the fire scene at night with its 5kw generator along with space to carry specialized fire equipment. In 1994 the van was sold to Parsippany Rescue & Recovery after delivery of the new truck.
